Ada Carlene Hammons passed away on her 80 ^th birthday, February 15, 2018 in Palm Coast, Florida.  She was born on February 15, 1938 in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Lew Carl and Irene Tolbert Lyon.  Mrs. Hammons attended Holmes High School in Covington, Kentucky.  Throughout her life she had many different jobs, but she always had a passion for animals and worked in a pet store until her passing.  In addition she bred and raised many different types of birds and provided care and nurturing for injured or abandoned animals.  For the last 30 years she and her husband, Clarence Hammons, have called Bunnell, Florida their home, and she was an active member at the First Baptist Church of Palm Coast.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara Jean Lyon.  She is survived by her husband, her children, Steven Clarence Hammons, Kimberly Hammons Shiffman, and Mark Warrens Hammons, 7 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.  She will be missed by all.

Funeral services in Florida took place on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Palm Coast.  Graveside services were held Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Adams Lutheran Cemetery in Batesville.
