Alex Bentley, age 66 of Brookville, Indiana, died Friday, December 20, 2013 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. He was born on August 26, 1947 in Mallie, Kentucky to Irvin and Jane Hammonds Bentley. Alex married Janine Craighead on November 26, 1975 in Clintwood, Virginia and she survives. He worked at Ford/Visteon until closing, retiring after 38 years of service. Alex was presented the Good Neighbor Award from the Brookville Franklin County Chamber of Commerce. He helped with the Special Olympics Softball Tournament, was part of the Franklin County Caring Group and loved to watch Andy Griffith and Bonanza. Alex also enjoyed spending time with family, fishing and working in his garden. Those left to honor Alex's memory include his wife of 38 years, Janine; son, Jody (Carrie) Bentley, daughters, Misty (Eric) Barrett and Renee Bentley, all of Brookville; 3 grandchildren, Bentley, Brianna and Callie; 6 sisters all living in Kentucky, and 2 brothers living in Indiana. Besides his parents, Alex was preceded in death by 2 sisters.Visitation for friends and family will be Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 3-6 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville, Indiana. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Mal Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Everton Community Cemetery.
