Alvin C. Gartenman, 76, of Brookville, Indiana died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville.He was born May 4, 1939 in Ripley County, Indiana to Leonard and Christina (Herndon) Gartenman.He married Geneva L. Gesell on September 4, 1955 at St. John Evangelical Church in Penntown, Indiana. Survivors include his Wife of 54 years, Geneva L. Gartenman; Daughter, Carolynn Blum of Florence, Kentucky; and Sons, Larry Gartenman of Milan, Indiana, Gary Gartenman of Dayton, Ohio, and Chuck Gartenman of Brookville, Indiana; Grandchildren, Josh, Adam, A.J., Cassie, Danny, Jason, Brittany, and Michelle; Great-Grandchildren, Hannah, Grace and Samantha; and Brother David Gartenman of Yorkville, Indiana.In addition to his Parents he was preceded in death by his Daughter, Dianne M. Hanna, who died February 22, 2008; and his Brother, Ivan Gartenman.The Visitation will be Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville, Indiana, 47012. The Memorial Service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Funeral Home. Dr. Harold Shackelford, Pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Klemmes Corner, Indiana will officiate. Burial will be done at a later date at the convenience of the family.Memorial donations may be directed to St. Peter United Church of Christ or to a Charity of the Donor's Choice.
