Audrey Pauline ( Sampson ) Hunter, 80, of Connersville, Indiana went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Brookville Healthcare Center, following a lengthy illness. Proverbs 31:28-29 (NIV) says, "Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." This describes her life. She was born to Paul Ansel and Ursie (Kessner) Sampson on April 16, 1929. She grew up at Young's Corner where she attended a one-room schoolhouse for eight years. She was a 1947 graduate of Brookville High School. She attended Indiana University in 1947 and finished her degree in 1993 from Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona.Audrey married Ernest Hunter in 1949. They lived in Oxford, Ohio for 25 years. After Ernest's retirement from the post office in 1976 they moved to Bisbee, Arizona where she lived for nearly thirty years. Most recently she was a resident of Connersville until her stay at the Brookville Health Care Center.Audrey was an accomplished artist who specialized in Southwest landscapes. She and her husband also Pastored, planted Churches, and served as Missionaries on several occassions. She continued in the Ministry even after his death.Audrey leaves behind six Daughters and Sons-in-law, Sue and Larry Neeley of Metamora, Indiana, Lynda and Dave Bjorklund of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Connie and Wade Urban of Connersville, Indiana, Becky and Dan Saxon of Connersville, Indiana, Elizabeth and Dennis Price Mulcahy of Phoenix, Arizona, Anita and Tony Baca of Bisbee, Arizona; two Sons and Daughters-in-law, Phillip and Linda Hunter of San Antonio, Texas, and Jason and Gina Hunter of Tuscon, Arizona; 13 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, and many Step-Grandchildren and Step-Great Grandchildren; two Sisters and Brothers-in-law, Ruth and Howard Campbell of Connersville, Indiana and Sherrie Antonio of Indianapolis, Indiana; two Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Floyd and Martha Sampson of Brookville, Indiana and Rick and Sandy Sampson of Boise, Idaho, and Brother, Melvin Sampson living in California. In addition to her Parents and her Husband, Ernest Hunter, she was preceded in death by one Sister, Joan (Charlie) Conner of Cambridge City, Indiana.Visitation is Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Metamora Church of God, 20146 US Highway 52, Metamora, Indiana. The Funeral Service will be Monday, March 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Church. Rev. Wayne Ison, Pastor of Metamora Church of God, will officiate and Eric Hopkins will assist. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville, Indiana. Memorial donations may be given in Audrey's name to Restoration Ministries at P.O. Box 634 Connersville, IN 47331.
