Betty J. Hicks, age 68, of Brookville, Indiana, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond. Born September 5, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of Willard and Florence Pugesek Strope. Betty married James R. Hicks on May 7, 1965 in South Bend, Indiana, and he survives. She worked at Visteon for 26 years and was a member of the Brookville Road Baptist Church. Betty's true enjoyment in life was spending time with her family. Those surviving who will honor Betty's memory include her husband, James R. Hicks; children Char (Rick) Robertson of Brookville, Kevin (Tawyna) Hicks of St. Leon, Jr. Hicks of Brookville, and Billie Jo (Travis) Upchurch of Connersville; 9 grandsons; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Carol Garcia of Glendale, AZ, Rose Bellegante of Hudson Lake, IN, Josie Emery of Niles, MI; brothers, Jimmy Strope of Florida, and Kenneth Strope of Niles, MI. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Joan and Charlotte and brother, Jack. Visitation for friends and family is from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. Services, conducted by Pastor Roy VanWinkle are Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Family requests memorial donations to American Lung Association.
