Obituary

Betty Ann Roepke, age 86, of Sunman, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. Born November 30, 1927 at home in Lawrenceville, Indiana, she was the daughter of Estal and Ida Boerstler Huber. Betty married Charles H. Roepke on October 6, 1951 at Sunman Community Church and he preceded her in death on May 15, 2004. She worked at the Milan Post Office for 20 years and ran a dairy farm with her husband. Betty was a member of Sunman Bible Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at the Ripley County Historical Society as well as many church community programs. Betty was active in mission work for the church by hosting many missionaries, assisting with training and providing supplies. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, raising chickens and spending time with her family. Those surviving who will cherish Betty's memory include sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Nancy Roepke of Penntown, and Duane and Rheeta Lou Roepke of Lawrenceville; 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; brothers, Alan (Ruth) Huber of Sunman, and Vernon (Betty Jo) Huber of Sunman; sisters, Shirley Huenke of Batesville, Dorothy Eaton of Columbus, Ohio, and Lorraine Galle of Brookville. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Eldon Roepke. Visitation for friends and family is from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Sunman Bible Church, 9475 State Road 101 North, Sunman. Funeral services, officiated by Jeff Stone, senior minister at Bright Christian Church, will begin at 4 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
