Boyd Arnold Settles, age 77, of Laurel, entered the gates of Heaven on Saturday, March 7, 2015. Born on January 29, 1938 in Hamilton, Ohio, he was the son of Frank and Beulah (Peters) Settles. On February 12, 1955 he married the love of his life, Carol Sue Walton. She preceded him in death after 47 years of marriage on September 18, 2002. He worked for many years as a real estate agent for James A. Hyde Insurance and Real Estate. Boyd was a member of Lodge #36 F & AM Greensburg and the Buena Southern Missionary Baptist Church. Music was very important to him and he truly enjoyed singing and playing instruments, especially the stringed kind. Those surviving who will cherish Boyd's memory include four daughters, Vanessa (Bobby) Holland, Darlene Ruble, Dorothy (Ivan) Housemeyer, and Emma Rebecca (Jim) Stansell; son Donald (Kathy) Settles; very special nephew Danny (Becky) Holland, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews he enjoyed spending time with. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice, Brenda and Laveda; one brother, Johnnie; a grandson, Clifford Daniel Sallee, and a son-in-law, Lester A. Wilson. A Celebration of Boyd's life, officiated by Pastor Rob Edwards, is at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Buena Southern Missionary Baptist Church, with burial following in Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville.
