Obituary

Charles Roscoe Metcalf, 77, of Sunman, Indiana, passed away at his residence Sunday, December 9, 2012. He was born December 20, 1934, in Clay County, Kentucky, to James Grant and Bessie (Morgan) Metcalf. Charles married Jo Ann Stahlman on September 24, 1984 at Smyrna Baptist Church in New Trenton, and she survives. He was a machinist at Samuel Bingham Roller Company in Sharonville, Ohio and retired from there after 42 years of service. He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and the Penntown Breakfast Club. Charles enjoyed fishing, gardening and most of all, family. He was a wonderful care-giver and had a willingness to assist anyone in need.He is survived by 9 children, Cassie (Christopher) Schmidt of Sunman, Jackie (Randy) Youngblood of Bright, Charlette (Patrick) McCarter of Sunman, Greg (Pam) Campbell of Cincinnati, OH, Sue (Gary) Randolph of Manchester, KY, Charles (Vivian) Metcalf of Batesville, Carolyn (Brian) Cox of Cincinnati, OH, Cindy (Dave) Hanna of Batesville, and Crystal Metcalf of Salem, MO; brother, John D. Metcalf of Corbin, KY; sisters, Callie King of West Harrison, IN, and Mae (Eugene) Grubb of Brookville, IN; 23 grandsons, 14 granddaughters, 31 great-grandchildren, and his favorite dog, Ralph.Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Hubert King, and 2 great-grandchildren, Josiah and Anna Marie McMullen.Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday December 12, 2012 at Smyrna Baptist Church, 4047 Hwy 52, New Trenton, IN. Funeral services will be led by Rev. Ernie Murray and Pastor Chuck McMahan at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 13, 2012. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville, IN.Memorial donations may be directed to the Sunman Life Squad or Hospice of Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville.
