Claude Banks, 87, of Brookville, Indiana, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond. He was born April 3, 1926 in Owsley County, Kentucky, to Andrew Jackson and Lola Thomas Banks. He married Edith Peters on September 20, 1947 in Brookville, and she preceded him in death on April 23, 1999. Claude was a WWII Army Veteran, and retired after many years of service in the maintenance department for Hill-Rom. He enjoyed his family and fishing.Those left to honor Claude's memory include; sons, Douglas Banks of North Carolina, and Dan (Teresa) Banks of Brookville; daughters, Beverly (Mike) Singer of Brookville, Carolyn (Wayne) Miller of Milan, Theresa (Dan) Morefield of Richmond, and JoAnn (Randal) Beesley of Phoenix, AZ; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Vernon Banks of Milford, OH. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sister, Opal Kruthaupt, and brothers, Elmer and Ralph Banks.Friends may visit with Claude's family from 9-11 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville, Indiana. Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Ison officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery with military honors performed by American Legion Bernard Hurst Post #77.Memorial donations in honor of Claude can be directed to Alzheimers Research, the American Cancer Society or Charity of Choice.
