Obituary

Cleo "Bill" Hammons, of Osgood, was born on October 6, 1946 in Batesville, a son to Johnie and Myrtle Poindexter Hammons.  He married Myrtle Byrd on February 22, 2018 in Osgood and she survives. Cleo was a United States Army veteran and worked maintenance for many years.  He belonged to the Solid Rock Church in Napoleon, the Versailles American Legion Post #173, and the Coonhunters Association.  On Monday, May 4, 2020 at the age of 73, he passed away at his residence.

Those surviving who will cherish Cleo's memory include his wife, Myrtle Hammons; daughters, Melissa Hammons, and Michelle (Michael) Byrd both of Covington, KY; grandchildren, Cody Monroe and Brooke Heidenreich; one brother, Clarence Hammons of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Orville, John, Rolland, as well as Philip who was killed in Vietnam; sisters, Katherine Fugate, Phoebe Statler, Louise Clark, June Goff, and Juanita Landrum.

Family will gather privately at the funeral home and a public graveside service will be held at Adams Church Cemetery, 1100 N Adams Church Road, Batesville, IN 47006, at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2020.
