Don Short, 81, of Brookville, Indiana passed away Friday, January 21, 2011 at Veterans Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.He was born January 23, 1929 in Hazard, Kentucky to Clarence and Mineriva (Toler) Short.He married Dudie Stewart on November 27, 1978 in Tennessee.Don was the retired owner and operator of Don Short Gas Station and Wrecker Service which was on Main Street in Brookville for over forty years and along with his wife, hosted several 'Larry Sparks' Bluegrass shows at his home 'Bluebird Hill'. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of VFW Post# 2014 in Brookville.Survivors include: his Wife- Dudie Short, Daughters- Emilly Powell of Florida, Elizabeth (Jim) Carley of Brookville, Son- Rocky (Kim) Stewart of Brookville, Step sons- Alan McIntire of Cincinnati, Ohio, Rob (Kelly) McIntire of Erlanger, Kentucky, five Grandchildren- Adam Powell, Whitney Stewart, Randi McIntire, Ryan Messerschmidt, Laura Messerschmidt, one Great Grandson- Blaiden AdamsVisitation will be Tuesday, January 25, 2011, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville, Indiana 47012, the Funeral Service will be Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 10:00AM at the Funeral Home where Curtis Bond, Pastor of Brookville United Methodist Church will officiate.
