Donna L. Nelson, age 68, of Brookville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Brookville Healthcare Center. Born on December 7, 1945, in Hamilton, Ohio, she was the daughter of Allison Leroy and Kathryn Louise Dees Heitfield. Donna married Lonnie Nelson on November 7, 1960 in Covington, Kentucky and he survives. She was a registered nurse and former Director of Nursing at Brookville Healthcare Center. Donna worked in hospitals in several states as well at the State Hospital in Arizona. Her and her husband served as foster parents for over 50 children through the years. Those surviving who will honor Donna's memory include her husband, Lonnie Nelson of Brookville; children, Daron Nelson of Brookville, Leannie Lea (Nelson) Johnson of Atlanta, IN, Lonnie Al Nelson of Seattle, WA, and Chelsea K. Nelson, Sabrina V. Nelson and George D. Nelson, all of Brookville; 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Tammy) Heitfield and Steven Heitfield of Hamilton, OH; sister, Tracy McQueen of Brookville, and sister-in-law, Sue Heitfield. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Dion A. Nelson; brother, Terry Heitfield; sister, Karen Klingle, and sister-in-law Diana Sue Heitfield.
