Dorothea F.  O'Neal of Brookville was born on October 28, 1940 in Charleston, W. VA a daughter of  Hillard and Hazel Marie Chancey Tyree. In 1956 she married Donald R. O'Neal Sr. who died in 1998. Dorothea was an LPN working at Fayette Memorial Hospital in Connersville and working until retirement at Elsie Dreyer Nursing Home in Brookville. She enjoyed spending time with her family, spending time working in her yard and garden, which was her pride and joy , and taking in injured and abandoned animals and caring  for them. On Tuesday, April 10, 2018,  at the age of 77, Dorothea died.

Dorothea is survived by her children: Terry Reed ( Ron Stallo) of Brookville, Theresa Abernathy (Bret Weston) of Severn, MD, Donna Reed ( Ray Miller) of Connersville, Donald O'Neal Jr. of Brookville, Megan O'Neal (Fred Neeley) of Brookville; Grandchildren: Nickey Reed, Michael Reed, Missy Miller, Jason Stallo, Shannon Senefeld, Amy Reed, Daniel Reed Jr., Shawnya Reed, Stephanie Litzinger, Timothy Litzinger, Trevor O'Neal, Ray O'Neal, Savannah O'Neal, Alexander Ford, Elijah Ford; thirty-three great-grandchildren; a brother: Hillard Tyree Jr, ( Pat) of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a son: Anthony O'Neal; and a sister Barbara Holmes.

Funeral services will be conducted on  Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.  Friends may visit at the funeral home  on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service where memorial contributions may be made to Franklin County Humane Society.
