Edna Bernice Goodin, 79, of Brookville, Indiana passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Hospice of Cincinnati – Blue Ash.

Bernice was born on November 10, 1946, in London, Kentucky, the cherished daughter of James Otis and Ruby Pearl Johnson (nee Witt). At the age of 6, she and her family moved to Franklin County, Indiana, where she remained a lifelong resident. She graduated from Whitewater High School with the Class of 1964 and went on to marry the love of her life, Donald Goodin, on September 19, 1964. Together, they created a life filled with love and centered around their family.

Bernice was employed by The Jay Garment Company as a seamstress for many years and later worked at Bauer Ford prior to her retirement. She was a former member of Scipio Baptist Church and also enjoyed attending New Life Baptist Church.

Family was everything to Bernice. She loved her children dearly and especially cherished her grandchildren. Those who knew her would say that she never met a stranger, always willing to strike up a conversation and create a warm, loving atmosphere wherever she went. She also found great joy in going out to supper and crocheting.

Bernice leaves behind her loving husband of over 62 years, Donald Goodin of Brookville; two sons, Rodney Goodin of Temecula, CA and James (Glenna) Goodin of St. Leon, IN; five grandchildren, Alyssa (Armando), Brian, Justin, Rodney, and Sarah; five siblings, Mary Bowers, Wanda Lee, Randall Johnson, Russell (Maureen) Johnson, and Otis Ray (Tina) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruby Johnson.

Friends and relatives may visit the family from 4 until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 25 at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home of Brookville, 929 Main Street. Pastor Jeff Edwards will officiate a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 26 at the funeral home. Burial will follow immediately after in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in honor of Bernice may be directed to Hospice of Cincinnati. Donations will be accepted in person at the funeral home or they can be made online at their website.
