Ellen Ison, 91, of Metamora, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at her residence. She was born November 16, 1922 in Redwood, Kentucky, a daughter to Richard and Aubrey Marshall McVay. Ellen married Everett D. Ison on September 28, 1940 in Covington, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on July 6, 1992. She was a homemaker who loved her family and the Lord. Ellen was a member of the OES of Brookville, and a Charter Member of the Metamora Church of God, having been actively involved there for 41 years. She loved quilting, gardening, her flowers, and enjoyed feeding the hummingbirds. Those surviving who will honor Ellen's memory include; her children, Earl (Iona) Ison of Everton, Judy (Ron) Jolliff of Metamora, Donna Nichols of Connersville, Wayne (Mary) Ison of Metamora, Sue (Herb) Halcomb of Metamora and Tommy Ison of Connersville; 26 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, 24 great, great-grandchildren; and several sisters and brothers. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janie Ison; grandchild, Wayne Ison, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Caleb Cox and Emily Ison. Visitation for friends and family will be Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at Metamora Church of God. Services, officiated by Pastor Wayne Ison and assisted by Jimmy John Ison will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
