Elmer F. Riehle, 98, of Blooming Grove, died Monday, October 19, 2015 at Reid Memorial Hospital, Richmond, IN. He was born August 27, 1917 in Morris, Indiana, a son to Bernard and Elizabeth Dirkhising Riehle. Elmer married Rita M. Amrhein on October 18, 1947 in St. Michael Catholic Church and she preceded him in death. Elmer retired from Philco-Ford in 1979. Elmer was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Left to honor Elmer's memory are his children; Dane (Judy) Riehle of Blooming Grove, Renee Metcalf of Brookville, Brent (Faith) Riehle of Brookville; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including 2 nieces raised by the family and one survives, Verna Alt. Besides his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by 7 sisters and 3 brothers along with a great granddaughter, Olivia Morford. Visitation for friends and family will be held at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home in Brookville, Indiana, Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. with Rosary preceding visitation at 4:30 p.m. Friends may also call on the family Thursday, October 22 from 9-10 a.m. A mass of Christian burial at St. Michael Church will be officiated by Father Jonathan Meyer, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 22. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Memorial donations in Elmer's honor may be directed to charity of the donor's choice or given for masses.
