Erma "Weze" Applegate, 90, of Brookville, Indiana, passed away Saturday, June 8. She was born October 1, 1922 in Dearborn County, Indiana to Ivan and Leona (Bidner) Vaughn.Erma married Paul "Jack" Applegate on April 8, 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on May 13, 1999. She was just bestowed as an Honorary Member of the M. Louisa Chitwood Club after 46 years of membership. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church and part of the Women's Missionary Club of the Presbyterian Church. She was head cook of the lunch room at White's Sale Barn, worked with her grandson at Northside Meats in Cincinnati and was a five year member of the Polar Bear Club. Those surviving who will honor Erma's memory include; daughters, Wilma (Robert) Werner of Bright, Indiana, Paula (David) White of Brookville, and Mary (Terry) Taylor of Oxford; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Annie Craft of Aurora, Indiana; and sister in law, Berma Vaughn. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughters, Patricia J. Rogers and Jane Nixon; brothers, Cecil, Willis, Melvin and Jack Vaughn; and sister, Frieda Benning.Visitation for friends and family will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. Services will begin at 12 noon and burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Mt. Carmel Cemetery Association.
