Obituary

G. Keith Banning, 89 , of Brookville, died Monday, October 19, 2015 at his residence. He was born on March 11, 1926 in Blooming Grove, Indiana and was the son of Frank and Corinne Naylor Banning. Keith was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. On June 7, 1947 at St. Michael Church he married Ruth Kirschbaum and she preceded him in death on October 25, 2003. Keith was a farmer and a truck driver for Farm Bureau and for Joseph A. Seagrams. Following his retirement from Seagrams, he drove a bus for Franklin County Schools for a number of years and in 2003 he was honored by being asked to serve as the Grand Marshal of the Franklin County High School Homecoming Parade. Keith was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and when possible, enjoyed playing golf, cards and spending time with his family. Left to honor his memory are his children; Jana Rae Fettig of McKinney, Texas, Jill Taylor ( Bill Knox ) of Brookville, Mickey O'Connor of Carmel, Indiana and Terry Banning of Jacksonville, Florida. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Rebecca ( Brendan ) Fox, Chris ( Tammy ) Fettig, Rachel Torres, Patricia ( Cameron ) Brantley, Bill Banning, Nichole ( Ted ) Janney, Scott ( Kelly ) Banning and Katie O'Connor and great grandchildren, Nola Fox, Althea and Keith Fettig, Travis ( Corie ) Reid, Bryce and Zachary Janney, MacKenzie and Billy Banning, Brett, Ryan and Gracie Banning. Keith has 2 sisters surviving, Joyce White of Harrison, OH and Faye ( Jim ) Hofer of Blooming Grove and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sisters, Frances Armstrong, Freida Banning and Miriam Crocker, brothers, Evan and Neil Banning and a son-in-law, Jack O'Connor. Visitation for friends and family will be held at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home in Brookville, Indiana, Friday, October 23, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. with Rosary preceding at 3:30 p.m. A mass of Christian burial at Saint Michael Church will be officiated by the Very Reverand Jeremy Gries beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery. Memorial donations in Keith's honor may be given to the Keith and Ruth Banning Scholarship Fund c/o St Michael School.
