V. Gayle Beckman, 95, of Brookville, Indiana, died Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Brookville Healthcare Center. She was born March 11, 1918 in Brookville to George and Edna (Strait) Beckman.After graduating high school, Gayle worked for Public Service. She is probably more known for her dedication as a secretary and receptionist for Dr. Seal from 1956 to 1994. Gayle was a member of the Brookville United Methodist Church, the Franklin County Historical Society, and the Franklin County Housing Advisory Board. She enjoyed traveling and visiting all 50 states, playing bridge, crocheting and spending time with family.Those left to honor Gayle's memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Marty Pflum of Brookville; grandchildren, Courtney Pflum of Brookville, and Tony Pflum of Miami, Florida; and 3 great grandchildren, Zoie, Jack and Colin. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother.Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. A memorial service will begin at 7 p.m. officiated by Rev. Curtis Bond. Additional services will be held at the convenience of the family.Memorial contributions in honor of Gayle may be directed to Franklin County EMS, Brookville Volunteer Fire Department, or the Brookville United Methodist Church.
