Geneva L. Gartenman, 78, of Brookville, Indiana, died in Oxford, OH, on Sunday, January 20, 2013. She was born on April 20, 1934 in Franklin County. Geneva was the daughter of Clifford Heeb and Ruby Gesell.She married Alvin C. Gartenman, Sr. on September 4, 1955 at St. John Evangelical Church in Penntown, Indiana. Geneva retired from Margaret Mary Community Hospital where she worked for many years as a nurse. Her hobbies were going to flea markets and listening to blue grass music. She was a long time member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include; one daughter, Carolynn (husband, Michael) Blum of Florence, Kentucky; three sons, Larry (wife, Pam) Gartenman of Milan, IN, Gary (wife, Susan) Gartenman of Dayton, OH, and Chuck Gartenman (wife, Janice) of Brookville, IN; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one sister, Arlene Koester of Richmond, IN; two brothers, Leslie Gesell of Columbia, Maryland, and Glenn Gesell of Brookville, IN.In addition to her parents and stepfather Arnold Gesell, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianne. Visitation for Geneva's friends and family will be on Thursday, January, 24 from 9 to 11 a.m. Dr. Harold Shackelford, Pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Klemmes Corner, will officiate the funeral service at 11 a.m.at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Franklin County Public Library Kids' Corner or the Franklin County Special Olympics.
