George Shoemaker, age 87, of West Harrison, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at his residence. Born on February 22, 1927 in Beattyville, Lee County, KY, he was the son of Amos and Nannie King Shoemaker. He was a WWII Army veteran, serving with the United States Army. George married Julie Ann Moore and she survives. He worked construction and later retired from Philco-Ford. George was a devout husband and family man. Besides his wife Julie A. Shoemaker, survivors include one brother, Mainerd Shoemaker of Brookville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Boone, Vaughn, Albert, John, Joe and Archie. Visitation is Friday, December 26, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. Services, at the funeral home, will begin at 1 p.m. Burial is immediately following in Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville, with military honors provided by the American Legion Bernard Hurst Post 77.
