Gloria C. Charles, 84, of Brookville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at her home. She was born October 22, 1927 in Cincinnati, Ohio, a daughter to Loren and Marguerite (Perry) Conley. Gloria married Ivan Paul Charles on November 27, 1947 in the Parsonage of the Methodist Church, Brookville. The two were married for over 65 years. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2011. Gloria had a love for the land and enjoyed farming in Blooming Grove with her husband. They loved cooking together, especially fresh vegetable soup with vegetables grown in their own garden. Gloria also liked crocheting and the study of birds. She is survived by daughters, Pauletta (Ken) Webb of Brookville, Jeanette Brandes of Brookville, and Marcia (Jeff) Swalby of Sarasota, FL; 5 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Patrick (Dorothy) Conley of Chicago, Illinois. Besides her parents and husband, Gloria was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Loren Charles, and a brother Lawrence Conley. A Memorial Service will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2012 at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville, Indiana. Pastor Curtis Bond will officiate the service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be directed to Hospice of Margaret Mary Community Hospital of Batesville, Indiana.
