Obituary

Harold R. Alig, 89, of Brookville, Indiana, passed away Saturday, October 13th, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born November 28, 1922 in St. Leon, Indiana, the son of William and Clara (Ellrich) Alig. Harold married Rita Messerschmidt on April 28, 1956 at St. Peters Catholic Church. He was a life-long farmer as well as a well-respected Pioneer seed corn salesman for 35 years. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and for 55 years called bingo at the St. Peters Labor Day Picnic. He loved the game of baseball and enjoyed cheering for the Cincinnati Reds. Harold also loved playing cards and passed that love on to many family and friends. Besides his loving wife of 56 years, Rita, Harold is survived by; son Garry (Alice) Alig of St. Leon, daughter Connie (Edgar) Andres of St. Leon, son Kenny (Ramona) Alig of Brookville, daughter Nancy (Steve) Monday of St. Leon, and daughter Penny Long of Brookville; grandchildren, Janie Waddell (Brandon), Brian Alig, Katy Brennan (Joe), Karen Smith (Larry), Kelly Hignite (Brian), Melinda Andres, Mckenzi Monday, Megan Andres, and Brianna Long ; 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.Harold was preceded in death by his parents, brother Howard Alig and sister Mae Bischoff. Friends may visit with Harold's family on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville, Indiana. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church, St. Peters, Indiana with Father Humbert Moster officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Peters Catholic Church.
