On October 1, 1968, Harold Joseph Metcalf, know as Jody, was the firstborn son of Claude and Marjorie Hunter Metcalf of Peppertown, Indiana. Named in honor of his uncle who was killed in Vietnam, Jody was patriotic and an avid outdoorsman. Jody loved the sound of tracking beagle dogs, loved to hunt and loved to spend time on the Metcalf family farm, where his life tragically ended on April 20, 2010.Jody was preceded in death by his mother, Margie Metcalf on April 26, 1998, and his father, Claude Metcalf on March 20, 2002, and his grandfather and best friend Robert Metrcalf on April 18 2001. All were waiting for him when he reached the gates of heaven. Jody leaves behind a loving daughter, Shawni Lynn Metcalf of Peppertown, a sister Carol Blake and husband, Randy of Laurel, a sister Jennifer Reed and husband Mike of Peppertown, a brother Michael Metcalf and wife, Darci of Peppertown, nieces: Abigail Blake and Becca Reed and nephews Hunter Blake, Mike Reed, Colton Reed, and Nicholas Reed, and Paul Hertel of Peppertown, Jody's cousin, best friend and loyal room mate for several years.Visitation will be at Cook Funeral Home in Brookville on Thursday, April 22nd, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. The funeral service will be Friday, April 23rd, at the Bible Baptist Church, 19101 US Highway 52, Metamora, Indiana 47030, where Rev. Ron McCulloch preside.Memorial contributions may be made to a memorial fund to be established, donations may be made at the funeral home or sent directly to Mike Metcalf, 21020 Walnut Fork Rd., Metamora, IN 47030(Make donations payable to Mike Metcalf).Family members will serve as pallbearers.
