Obituary

Harry (Henry) R. Messerschmidt, age 81, of St. Peters, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. Born on June 15, 1932 in St. Peters, he was the son of William and Helen Cutter Messerschmidt. Harry served his country during the Korean War as part of the United States Army. He married Lorraine Schuler on November 22, 1958 in Dover at St. John's Catholic Church. Harry worked at Philco-Ford and then Pepsi for 35 years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, and St. Joseph Post #464 American Legion in St. Leon. Harry enjoyed trap shooting, playing cards, watching the Reds and Franklin County Sports, mushroom hunting, fishing and puzzles. Those surviving who will honor Harry's memory include children, Thea Messerschmidt, Bill (Becky) Messerschmidt, and Tim (Mary) Messerschmidt, all of St. Peters; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; sisters Rita Alig of St. Peters, and Annie Weekley of Dover. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine in 1999; sisters, Mildred WiWi and Mary Klump, and brother Jake Messerschmidt. Visitation is Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at St. Peters Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian burial, officiated by Fr. Humbert Moster will begin at noon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the St. Joseph Post #464 American Legion in St. Leon.
