Wullenweber
November 21, 1922 – January 25, 2017
Hazel Anna Wullenweber, of Milan, was born on November 21, 1922 in Dearborn County, the daughter of Henry and Sophie Hornberger Walter. She graduated from Sunman High School in 1939 and married Clarence Wullenweber on December 9, 1942 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hubbell's Corner. Hazel worked as a secretary in Cincinnati and later with her husband did truck farming. She was active in her community as a member of the Sunman American Legion Auxiliary, serving both as the President of the 9th District and as the first President of the Milan VFW Auxiliary. Hazel worked with the committee to establish the WWII Memorial in Versailles, and established with her husband the Farmer's Market in Lawrenceburg. She was a member of St. John' Lutheran Church at Hubbell's Corner as well as the NRA. In her spare time she loved fishing, trapping, and anything the outdoors offered. On Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at the age of 94, Hazel passed away at her residence.
Those surviving who will cherish Hazel's memory include her children, Pauline Sue (Don) Barnes of Cincinnati, OH, Kathy (Danny) Hanavan of North Bend, OH, Clarence (Patty) Wullenweber, Jr. of Commiskey, Clayton James (Pam) Wullenweber of Sunman, and Terry (Jamie) Wullenweber of Milan; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, and a sister, Helen Rosemeyer of Batesville. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on December 22, 2005.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 10 a.m. till 12 noon at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hubbell's Corner. The funeral service will begin at 12 noon and burial will follow in Evangelical Union Cemetery, adjacent to the church.
