Helen (Halcomb) Kennel, age 78, of Brookville, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013 at her residence.She was born October 31, 1934 in Metamora to Charles and Cora Lee (Bravard) Halcomb. She married Elton Kennel on February 18, 1952 in Brookville. Helen was a secretary for over 20 years at Hyde's Insurance and Real Estate office. She had also worked at the License Branch for a number of years. She enjoyed shopping, camping and the beach.Those surviving who will honor Helen's memory include; her loving husband of over 60 years, Elton Kennel; sisters, Faye Hauck of Greenfield, IN, Delores Jackson of Ft. Meyers, FL, Belva Stirn of Clarksville, IN, Patty Hall of Brookville and Debbie Race of Brookville; brothers, Wayne Halcomb of Brookville, Donald Drew of Connersville, and Winton Halcomb of Connersville. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Gary Lee Kennel and sister, Joyce Bird.Visitation for friends and family will be from 4-8 PM, Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. Services will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10 AM on Thursday, September 5, 2013, officiated by Pastor Mike Holman of the First Baptist Church of Brookville. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or the First Baptist Church of Brookville.
