Helen Short, 81, of Manchester, Indiana, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012 at her residence. She was born on August 9, 1930 in Manchester KY, the daughter of Taft and Thelma (Howard) Shell. She married Kenneth L. Short and he preceded her in death on September 21, 2000.Helen retired from Hillenbrand Industries after 26 years of service. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was devoted to her flowers, and enjoyed gardening and reading.Survivors include one son, Dwayne Short of Manchester, IN, daughters, Darlene Worthington of Wabash, IN, Sandra L. Dufrene of Manchester, IN, and 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Taft Shell Jr. of Ohio, Paul Shell of Kentucky, Danny Shell of Kentucky, John Shell of Ohio, and sisters, Dortha Sutton of Ohio, Jo Ann Sears of Ohio, and Wornie Cornett of Indiana. Besides her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Donita Burnette and Jerri Binder, Sister Diane and Brother Henry. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2012 with the Rev. Edward Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Sunman, IN. Friends may visit with Helen's family from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Monday at Cook Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street. Memorial Contributions may be directed to The American Cancer Society.
