Obituary

Henry Clay Rose II, age 86, of Sunman, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015, at his residence. Born on March 4, 1929, at home in Sunman, he was the son of Lu Dora (Sebastian) and Henry Clay Rose I. Henry married Marie Belcamino on July 5, 1947, and to this union was born 4 children, Henry III, David, Roseanne, and Marie Julene. He was a self taught carpenter and the owner/operator of Rose Well Drilling. Along with his brother, Arthur, Henry built Rose's Roller Rink in Milan; and with his brother, Bill, built many houses and log homes in the area. One of Henry's greatest achievements was designing and building a concrete tile plant without the benefit of a high school diploma. He was a member of the Cincinnati Carpenter's Union, and helped to build the Markland Dam and numerous power plants. Henry was an avid big game sportsman, hunting from Montana to Alaska, bringing home many trophies of his conquests. Those surviving who will honor Henry's memory include his wife of 21 years, Lu Rose; children, Henry Clay III (Linda) Rose, David Arthur (Sandy Sieber) Rose, Roseanne (Mike) Kissell, all of Milan, Marie Julene (Bill Koester) Gutzwiller of Greensburg; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson; siblings, Virginia (Elwin) Abplanalp, of Sunman, Marie (Kendall) Hofmockel of Philadelphia, PA, and Virgil Rose of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and multiple siblings. A Memorial Service to celebrate Henry's life will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at 6:00pm at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman.
