Irene Johnson, 86, of Milan, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Ripley Crossing.She was born September 8, 1926 in Martin, Kentucky to Estil Childress and Dorothy Reynolds Childress. Irene married Milford Johnson on March 23, 1943 in Garner Kentucky and he preceded her in death on July 18, 1967. She was a lifelong homemaker and attended Little Memory Baptist Church. She loved her children with all her heart.Those surviving who will honor Irene's memory include; children, Paul (Gail) Johnson of Moores Hill, Geraldine (Hershel) Eldridge of Milan, Graden (Brenda) Johnson of Moores Hill, , Rex (Trueline) Johnson of Batesville; Sandra Johnson of Milan; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; and one brother, Johnny Childress of Red Fox, KY. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Brenda Thomas; son, Dickie Johnson; grandchildren, Laura Johnson, Brad Johnson, and Jonathan Eldridge; brothers, Donald Childress, Jessie Childress, and Sheldon Childress; sisters, Eva Hall, and Annabell Napier. In keeping with Irene's wishes, an Old Regular Baptist service will begin with visitation at Little Memory Baptist Church at 4 PM on Friday, August 30, 2013. The services will begin at 11 AM Saturday, August 31, 2013. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
