James L. Hertel, 81, of Metamora, Indiana died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.He was born on March 20, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Ernest C. and Vernona (Thalheimer) Hertel. He married Mary Lou Beesley on June 16, 1951 in St. Michael Church in Brookville, Indiana. He retired from Visteon in 1996 and also farmed. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE) #1129 - Brookville.In addition to his Wife, Mary Lou, he is survived by Daughter and Son-in-law, Cindy and Eldon Brock of Metamora; Daughter, Beth Moore of Connersville; Daughter, Julie Brown of Brookville; Daughter and Son-in-law, Linda and Kelly Wolfe of Cedar Grove; Son and Daughter-in-law, James C. and Therese Hertel of Metamora; 10 Grandchildren; and 10 Great Grandchildren.In addition to his Parents he was preceded in death by his Sister, Erna Rita Hertel.Visitation will ae Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville, Indiana, 47012. A Rosary Service will follow the visitaion and begin at 8:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be Monday, November 16, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Michael Church, 145 St. Michael Blvd., Brookville, Indiana 47012. Rev. William Williams, Pastor of St. Michael Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in St.Michael Cemetery, Brookville, Indiana with Military Honors by Brookville American Legion - Bernard Hurst Post # 77. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Michael Church or to Franklin County EMS.Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
