James E. Owens, 75 of Sunman, IN, passed away April 28th, 2012 at his residence. He was born on November 19, 1936 to Daniel and Perlina Owens in Manchester, Kentucky. He was married to Matilda Spurlock who preceded him in death on April 25, 1996. He was a mechanic with an electric company in Ohio and worked for Hornsby Gravel of Harrison, OH. His surviving family includes his daughter - Emily Schwering of Sunman, and a son - Nathan (Darlene) Owens of Batesville, and Grandchildren - Tina Knueven, Rachel Freeman, Stephanie Schwering, Shelly Karn, Nathan Owens Jr and Jimmy Owens also 14 Great Grandchildren as well as 12 sisters and brothers - Charles Owens of New Trenton, IN, Alec Owens of Fairfield, Oh, and Earl Owens, Doug Owens, Paul Owens, William Owens, Roger Owens, Anna Nell Frazier, Florence Roark, Lucy Wilson, Glenna Sizemore and Dela Rose Smith all living in Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Matilda, Granddaughter, Kristy Schwering and an Infant Sister Visitation on Monday, April 30 from 4:00 to 9:00 PM at Cook Funeral Home - Sunman, Indiana. Funeral at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 1 and starting at 11:00 AM with burial following in Pilgrim Home Cemetery - Sunman, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses.
