James Robert Witt, Sr. age 76, of Brookville, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Brookville Healthcare Center. He was born November 2, 1938 in Keavy, Kentucky to Dillard and Mollie Lawson Witt. On August 25, 1956, James married Rinda Roark in Jellico, Tennessee. He retired from Visteon as a high-low driver and was a member of the Harmony Lodge #11 F & AM. Other affiliations included the Eastern Star Chapter #449, the York Rite-Scottish Rite of the Valley of Indianapolis and the Scipio United Baptist Church. James loved camping and playing gospel and bluegrass music. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was known for his willingness to help anybody at anytime. Those surviving who will honor James' memory include his loving wife of over 58 years, Rinda Witt; children, Rob (Barb) Witt of Brookville, Nancy Lunsford of Moores Hill, Debbie (Greg) Singer, and Tammy Clem, both of Brookville; 13 grandchildren , 12 great grandchildren; brother, Jerry Witt of Brownsville, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Lucion Lunsford and Stephen Clem; an infant sister, Ivy Witt; siblings, Ruby Johnson, Theodore Witt, Denver Witt, Lula Jones, Kathryn Shepard, Cecil Witt, and Bertie Bunch. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2015, at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. The evening visitation will include both Masonic and Eastern Star memorial services. The funeral service is Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Big Cedar Cemetery.
