Jerry Day, age 53, of Mt. Carmel, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 at home, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 15, 1961, in Florence, Kentucky, he was the son of Lawrence E. and Beatrice Farmer Day. Jerry married Debbie Davisson at White Oak Christian Church in 1987 and she survives. He was the general manager at Merrell Grain for 36 years. Jerry was a member of EMS 1, the Drewersburg EMS Board of Directors and served on the Drewersburg Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years. He was also a deacon at the Brookville Road Baptist Church for 10 years. Jerry was an avid Reds, Bengals and I.U. Basketball fan; and prior to his illness, loved hunting, and fishing. Those surviving who will honor Jerry's memory include his wife Debbie; daughter, Taylor (David) Moreau, and son, Travis Day, both of Mt. Carmel; sister Janice Hasley of Scipio, and brother, Jeff Day of Okeana, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation for friends and family is Monday, August 25, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Roy VanWinkle will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Scipio United Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
