Jessie E. Hess, 84, passed away at her residence in Sunman, Indiana on Friday, April 26, 2013. She was born on September 6, 1928 to Clarence and Clara Regel McCool. She married Vernon R. Hess, Sr. on October 5, 1946 in Portland, Indiana and he preceded her in death. She was Unit Secretary at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville for over 38 years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary in Sunman, and St. John's Lutheran Church at Hubbell's Corner. She was very devoted to her family, her work and was loved by all.Left to honor Jessie's memory are her children, Vernon R. Hess (Jackie) of Cincinnati, OH, Shirley Becker (Michael) of Villa Hills, KY, Linda Oelker of Osgood, IN, and Nancy Miller of West Harrison, IN; grandchildren, Julie Hess, Marc Hess, Christopher Oelker, Kara Oelker, Brittany Fischer, Melissa Gear, Jenny Burton; and great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Burton, Lily Burton, Addie Gear; and one sister, Phyliss Jean living in Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.Visitation is Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman. Pastor Chad Adamik will officiate the funeral service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Evangelical Union Cemetery at Hubbell's Corner.Memorial donations may be directed to the Hansen Center in Batesville.
