June Halcomb, 70, of Metamora, Indiana, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at her residence.She was born on September 30, 1942 in Connersville, Indiana to William Taft Hammond and Katherine Thomas. She married Gene Halcomb on April 1, 1961 in Brookville, and he survives. June was a member of Metamora Church of God and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed mushroom hunting, camping and loved spending time with her family and friends. She had worked at Hillenbrand Industries in Batesville as well as Snoddy Furniture in Rushville. For over 19 years she served as the bookkeeper for Halcomb Brothers Trucking. Left to honor June's memory is her husband of over 51 years, Gene Halcomb; children, Jamie (Dawn) Halcomb of Metamora, Ronald (Julie) Halcomb of Connersville, Kim (Randall) Ison of Metamora; step-daughter Diane Estes of Greenfield, Indiana; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Emily June Ison, and one brother, Danny Hammond. Visitation is Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Metamora Church of God from 4-8 p.m. Pastor Wayne Ison will officiate the funeral service on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Metamora Cemetery will follow.
