Lavinia Marie Eckerle, age 93, of Brookville, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014 after a brief stay at Brookville Health Care Center. Born July 23, 1921 in Laurel, she was the daughter of William F. and Anna Neukam Prifogle. On June 19, 1948, she married Raymond L. Eckerle at St. Michael Catholic Church, and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1995. Lavinia was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, and the Young at Hearts Club. She enjoyed quilting, cross-stitch, crocheting, dominoes, bingo and playing cards with the ladies from her club. Those surviving who will cherish Lavinia's memory include children, Karen (Bruce) Machamer of Huntsville, AL, Kenny (Carolyn) Eckerle of Brookville, Tom (Brenda) Eckerle of Brookville, Connie (Mark) Taylor of Cincinnati, OH, Larry (Ruth) Eckerle of Brookville, and Mary (Chris) Burk of Brookville; 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sister, Beulah Braun; brothers, Cecil Prifogle, Clarence Prifogle, Percil Prifogle, Virgil Prifogle, William Prifogle, Russell Prifogle, and Dale Prifogle. Visitation for friends and family is Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. The Rosary service begins at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial, celebrated by Rev. Sean Danda is Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
