Leo E. Schantz, of Lawrenceville, Indiana, was born on December 7, 1931 in Lawrenceville, a son to Adam J. and Mabel D. Wolljung Schantz.  He married Loveda J. Schantz on December 7, 1984 in Rising Sun, and she preceded him in death on August 23, 2011.  Leo was a lifelong farmer and worked at Romweber Furniture in Batesville from 1959 to 1993.  He was an avid gardener, enjoyed time with family and friends, and liked to cut firewood.  Leo was also fond of his dogs.  On Sunday, November 29, 2015, at the age of 83, he passed away at the Chateau of Batesville.

Those surviving who will cherish Leo's memory include his sisters and brothers, Walter Schantz of St. Peters, Ruth Haring of Cincinnati, Marie Hardebeck of Millhousen, Edith Fledderman of Batesville, Francis (Omer) Werner of Napoleon, and Julie (Harold) Vonderheide of Brookville; step-children, Edgar Elza of Lawrenceburg, James Elza of Aurora, and Patricia Masters of Clearfield, KY; niece, Jane (Kenneth) Cobb of Batesville; friend Samuel Obermeyer of Sunman, and numerous other nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by step-daughter, Sharon Kilgore; sister, Esther Goddard, and brother, Russell Schantz.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 11 a.m. till time of service at 1 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman.  Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
