Lester "Joe" Cash Jr. passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville.

Joe was born in Guilford on October 10, 1947, to Lester E.  and Ethel Leek Cash. He was raised in Guilford/Yorkville, Indiana. After graduating from North Dearborn High School, he joined the US Navy where he was stationed on the USS Tallahatchie for two years off the coast of Italy. There he made lifelong friends who he enjoyed seeing at annual reunions across the country. Joe worked as a machinist all his life on bottling and labeling equipment and even did work in the Philippines and on the island of St. Croix. For many years he enjoyed riding a Harley and collected a T-Shirts from almost every dealership in the USA. He also has a collection of small model classic trucks.

Joe was an active member St. Johns Hubbell's Lutheran Church.  He was a member of New Alsace Legion No. 452 where he bartended at events and was on the color guard. He was a mason and an active member of North Dearborn Alumni. Joe was an avid reader and has every Steven King novel. He never let being a diabetic for fifty-two years hold him back. He enjoyed cutting firewood for years. He was a knowledgeable mechanic. His favorite pastime with lifelong friends was playing dominos monthly and taking an annual trip.

He is survived by his wife, Janet, of 54 years; two children: Michael (Michelle) Cash and Wendy Earnshaw; three Granddaughters: Emily & Kendra Earnshaw and Lilly Cash; Stepmother Laura (Wilson) Cash; great uncle Irvin Cash; brother Bill Snyder (Edna) of Atlanta; and sister Agatha Lawrence (Mervin) of Greensburg;  and large extended family who gathered every holiday. He is preceded in death by his parents Lester and Ethel Cash.

Honoring Joe's wishes, cremation was chosen and he will be remembered at a Celebration of Life in the coming months. Cook Rosenberger Funeral home assisted the family with the arrangements.
