Obituary

Lillian J. Beneker Knue, age 80, of Sunman passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 in Indianapolis. Lillian was born to Amos and Marie Werner Beneker on November 12, 1934, in St. Leon, Indiana. On November 3, 1956, Lillian was wedded to William H. Knue who preceded her in death. Along with running the dairy farm with her husband for 40 years, Lillian also worked at Jay Garment Company in Brookville. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Sunman and the Daughter's of the American Revolution in Brookville. In her spare time Lillian enjoyed researching her family's history and recording the genealogy in a family tree. She also liked to play cards and bingo with her family and friends. Lillian was known to give her time freely to care for others. Lillian's life will be honored by those who survive her, including her children Myra Endris of Carmel, Judy Soots of Indianapolis, and Linus Knue of Towanda, IL. Also surviving are her sisters Frances Bischoff of St. Leon, and Rita Stenger of St. Peters. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Knue was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mildred Stenger, her brothers James, Wilfred and Paul Beneker and her beloved husband. Friends may celebrate Lillian's life with the family from 5:00pm-8:00pm Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman. The rosary will be said at 4:45pm. The Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Father Shaun Whittington, will be held Wednesday, March 25, at 10:30am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Sunman. Burial will follow in the St. Nicholas Cemetery. The family requests memorial donations are made to St. Nicholas School.
