Obituary

Mark Hammons, 65, of Liberty Township, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

Mark was born on January 19, 1961, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Clarence and Ada Carlene Hammons. He graduated from Holmes High School in Covington, Kentucky in 1979, and later continued his education at the University of Phoenix, where he earned his bachelor's degree. Mark dedicated many years to a successful career in information technology, he started in 2008 and retired in 2022 from Weiss Technik North America, where he served as an IT Manager. On December 19, 1981, Mark married the love of his life, Karen, in Greenfield, Ohio. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, cherished memories, and a family that meant the world to him.

Mark had a love for motorcycles, especially his four Harley-Davidsons. His passion for Harleys was such a big part of his life that even the family dog was named Harley. Whether admiring his motorcycles or enjoying the freedom of the open road, they brought him countless moments of happiness. Mark also loved going on cruises and was always eagerly counting down the days until his next adventure. He looked forward to the opportunity to travel, explore new places, and make lasting memories with those he loved. When he wasn't planning his next cruise or enjoying his motorcycles, Mark could often be found spending time with his model trains and cars, hobbies that reflected his appreciation for detail and the enjoyment he found in working with his hands.

Mark was an incredibly talented and handy man who seemed to have the ability to build or fix just about anything. There was rarely a project too big or a problem too difficult for him to tackle. However, what made his talents even more special was his willingness to share his knowledge with others. Mark was an exceptional teacher, known for his endless patience and his ability to explain things in a way that made others feel comfortable learning. He took great pride in teaching the people he loved, passing along not only his skills but also the confidence to try something new. Whether he was helping someone repair something, working on a project, or simply offering a little guidance, Mark was always willing to lend a hand.

Above all, Mark treasured his family and the time he spent with those closest to him. His patience, generosity, and willingness to help others were qualities that made him such a special husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Through the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared, Mark leaves behind a lasting legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Those surviving who will carry Mark's legacy forward include his loving wife of 44 years, Karen Hammons; three children, Alan (Lindsay) Dunagan, Sarah (Brandon) Gates, and Rachel (Jason) Hollenbach; three grandchildren, Julia Hollenbach, Jonah Hollenbach, and Caden Gates; three siblings, Steve Hammons, Kim (Dale) Shiffman, and Donna Adkins; along with many nieces and nephews. His best friend Brian Baxter, who was much more than a friend to him, he was a bother in every sense of the word. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by two siblings, Carol Hammons and Kenny Hammons.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home of Sunman, 107 W. Vine Street, with funeral services immediately following. Burial will follow at Adams Lutheran Church Cemetery.

In honor of Mark’s wishes, the family encourages those attending his services to wear color rather than traditional black attire.
