Mary Beth
Gibbs
June 3, 1953 — October 8, 2026
Brookville, Indiana
Mary Beth Gibbs, 73, of Brookville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a faithful Christian whose life was rooted in her love for the Lord and her family.
Mary was born on June 3, 1953, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Andrew Wesley Archer and Anna Mae Saltz. Throughout her life, her faith remained a guiding light, and she shared a beautiful, Christ-centered marriage with her husband of more than 47 years, William “Charles” Gibbs. Their love was a testament to commitment, companionship, and faith. Charles was her best friend and the love of her life, and together they built a life centered on their faith, their family, and the countless memories they made along the way.
Above all else, Mary loved and adored her family. She was a homemaker for most of her adult life and proudly referred to herself as a “Domestic Engineer.” Caring for her home and family was more than a role for her; it was a reflection of the love and devotion she poured into those closest to her. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were among her greatest blessings, and she took immense joy in watching her family grow through the generations.
In her younger years, Mary worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where she found great fulfillment in caring for others. She was dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care and took pride in helping her patients live their lives with dignity and comfort. Mary especially enjoyed listening to their stories and uplifting their spirits, becoming a trusted caregiver and steadfast source of encouragement.
Mary found great happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed cooking and spent many years lovingly tending to her flower garden. She took great pride in sharing her knowledge and skills with her children and grandchildren, passing along lessons and cherished traditions that will continue through the generations. As a devoted servant of the Lord, Mary lived her faith through her actions, never hesitating to lend a helping hand to her family or anyone in need.
Mary also loved visiting yard sales, garage sales, Goodwill, and flea markets, always excited to discover a hidden treasure. But of all the treasures Mary found throughout her life, none could ever compare to her family, whom she considered her greatest and most precious treasure. She cherished the quiet moments spent with Charles, whether they were watching movies together or simply enjoying a cup of coffee.
Those left to cherish Mary's memory include her husband, William “Charles” Gibbs; her children, Tracy Jo Rosenberger (Wade), Amy Lynn Young (Robert), Rachel Nicole Sturgell (Brandon), Jonathan Charles Gibbs (Angeleen), and Adam Samuel Gibbs (Amber); her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Donald Archer, Brenda Goins, Judy Lynn Holland, and David G. Archer. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Oliver Wesley Gibbs; and her siblings, Shirley Rose Gibbs, Martha Sue Graft, Jack Archer, Patricia Lynn Archer, and Pamela Lou Lainhart.
Mary’s family takes solace in the promises of God and the hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ, trusting that they will one day be reunited with her.
John 3:16 reminds us: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16 (KJV)
Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of Life in honor of Mary will be announced at a later date.
To honor her memory, the family invites memorial contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society.
