Mary E. Hoffman, age 100, of Liberty, was born on May 23, 1917 in Franklin County, the daughter of John L. and Matilda Petersen Robeson.  She married William V. Hoffman on August 16, 1941 at the Christian Church in Brookville .  Mary had been a resident of Union County since 1947, moving to Liberty from Fairfield in 1967.  She was active in the Eastern Star - as a former member of the Brookville Violet Chapter #218, and serving as Worthy Matron of the Fairfield Chapter #409.  Mary had been a member of the First Christian Church of Brookville, the Simon E. Snyder Liberty American Legion Post #122 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Arts and Crafts Club in Liberty.  On Thursday, August 24, 2017, she passed away at Whitewater Commons Senior Living in Liberty.

Those surviving who will cherish Mary's memory include several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.  Besides her parents and husband, William Hoffman, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Howard and Harland Robeson; a nephew, John W. Robeson, and a niece, Dorothy Basson.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 12 noon until 1p.m.  The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. and include an Eastern Star Memorial Service.  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville.
