Ralph E. Beal, age 87, of Sunman, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 at his residence. Born June 1, 1927, in Okeana, Ohio, he was the son of William and Maude Hicks Beal. Ralph was a World War II veteran with the United States Navy, serving in Guam as a CB building runways. On October 23, 1972 he married Betty Lou Fields in Lawrenceburg, and she survives. Ralph retired from Bige Fields Construction in Harrison after many years of service. He was also a 51 year member of the Sunman American Legion Post 464. Those surviving who will cherish Ralph's memory include his wife of 42 years, Betty Lou Beal; children, Michael (Angel) Beal of Okeana, OH, Kathy Niebrugge of Aurora, IN, Gary Wayne Beal of Sunman, Tony (Tena) Beal of Brooksville, FL, Sandra (Bill) Detzel of Hamilton, OH; step-children, Mike (Johniee) Saylers of Florence, IN, Eddie (Nancy) Collins of Sunman, and Timothy Fields of Morgantown, IN; 8 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Vera Clark, Shelby Clark and Norma Clark, and brothers, Lester Beal and Jack Beal. Visitation for friends and family is Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman. The services, at the funeral home, will begin at 1:30. Burial, with graveside military honors provided by the Sunman American Legion Post 464, will follow in St. Stephens Cemetery, Spades.
