Raymond Albert "Al" Kerner, Jr., was born in Salem, Indiana on March 7, 1933, the only child of the late Raymond Albert and Josephine (Stefanitch) Kerner, Sr. He served his country as part of the United States Navy during the Korean War, and later attended and graduated from Ball State University. Al married Eva Green on August 17, 1963 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Cincinnati. He worked as a train director for CSX railroad and was very active in the Sunman American Legion Post #337, having served as the 9th District Commander twice. On September 28, 2015 Al passed away at his residence at the age of 82. Those surviving who will cherish Al's memory include his wife of 52 years, Eva Kerner of Sunman; son, Raymond (Maria) Kerner III, of Coral Springs, FL, and many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with Al's family from 10 am to 1 pm on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman. Services at the funeral home will begin at 1 pm. Burial with full military honors will take place immediately following services in St. Paul Cemetery, Sunman. Memorial donations may be directed to the Sunman American Legion Post #337.
