Robert Powell Burch, 93, of Liberty, Indiana died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at his residence. The son of Riley and Daisy (Marcum) Burch, he was born in Sexton Creek, Kentucky on May 19, 1917. He was a painter, a farmer, and a factory worker who loved to travel, making more than fifty trips to Tucson, Arizona. He enjoyed visting friends and relatives in Kentucky, where he found many long-lost relatives and where he made many new friends. Most recently he worked at the Liberty Bell Restaurant in Liberty, Indiana. His favorite past time was talking to people about Jesus and he ever missed an opportunity to do so. Survivors include five daughters, Kathleen Allred of Brookville, Indiana, Dorothy Plemons and Donna Beckman, both of Liberty, Indiana, and Verna McMillan and Joy Boone, both of Tucson, Arizona; five sons, Alvin Burch of Brookville, Indiana, Dow Burch and Donny Burch, both of Brunswick, Georgia, Lee Burch of Orange, Texas, and Eddie Burch of Polk City, Florida; 26 grandchildrn, 43 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary West and Martha Doerflein, both of Brookville, Indiana.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Burch; two sons, Dennis Eugene and James Sherman Burch; six sisters, Lucy Sampson, Virgie Neeley, Edith Allen, Inez Hamlin, Lena Carmack, and Fern Eibeck; three brothers, Tom, Dewey, and Dale Burch; five grandchildren, Robin Luke, Donald McMillan, Carissa Plemons, Curtis King, and Scott King; and great grandson, Billy Sayers.The visitation will be Friday, May 28, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Family Worship Center in Blooming Grove, Indiana. The funeral service will follow beginning at 1:00 PM at the Church. Andy Johnson and Tom Marshall, Pastor of the Family Worship Center, will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville, Indiana.Memorial donations may be directed to the family to assist with expenses.Family members will serve as pallbearers.
