Ruth "Janet" Fohl (79) died of cardiac failure on October 22, 2014. She was born on December 17, 1934 to Edmund and Martha Hoffrogge in Cincinnati, OH. She married James "Jim" Fohl on April 7, 1956 where they lived happily in Cedar Grove, IN for nearly 57 years. Recently, they moved to Indianapolis where they made new friends at St. Pius X Church and Traditions at Solana. Janet was a homemaker and dedicated mother to her six children. She was a Cub Scout leader, and an EMT for Cedar Grove EMS from its inception. Jim and Janet prioritized involving their children in the most important aspects of their own lives, including attending church as a family, and working together at both Fohl's Food Mart and Fohl's Catering. As an active member of Holy Guardian Angels Parish over the years, Janet was a reader, Eucharistic minister, member of the choir, and part of the group involved in keeping Holy Guardian Angels an active parish. Her hobbies included clowning, playing cards, cooking, going for long walks/hiking through the woods, bridge card club, and meeting new friends. She was a strong advocate and mentor to her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was when her family and friends came to visit. Janet is survived by her loving husband of 58 years; brother, Robert Hale of Englewood, FL; children, Jim (Cecilia) of Indianapolis, IN, Nick (Lisa) of Indianapolis, IN, Mike (Karen) of North Bend, OH, Julie (Doug) Proud of Cincinnati, OH, Beth (Eric) Fohl Bailey of Westerville, OH, and Shelly (Kevin) Lindley of Indianapolis, IN. She adored spending time with her 18 grandchildren: Alex & Zach Fohl; Lauren, Liz & Eric Fohl; Bob, Brian, & Jennifer Fohl; Benjamin & Cassandra Proud; Laura, Rachel, Brendon, Devon, & Kayleigh Bailey; and Kaitlyn, Sarah & Maddie Lindley. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Edmund, and her brother, Ralph Hale. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Cedar Grove, Indiana on Saturday November 1st with calling from 9:00am to 11:00am and Mass immediately following. Per her wishes, Janet's body has been donated to the University of Cincinnati Medical School.
