Shirley Ann
Maupin
October 4, 1942 – October 27, 2025
Shirley Ann Maupin, of Sunman, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born on October 4, 1942, she was the loving daughter of Clifford and Martha (Vonderheide) Zorb. Shirley graduated from St. Francis Xavier Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio. On May 6, 1961, she married Carl E. Maupin Sr., in Cincinnati, and together they created a beautiful family and raised eight wonderful children. Most recently, Shirley was a homemaker, but previously she worked at both The Waters of Batesville and Shady Nook Care Center in housekeeping and laundry departments. Shirley had a kind and gentle spirit, and she filled her days with the things she loved most. She enjoyed reading, painting, working puzzles, and playing computer games. She had a deep appreciation for music—especially the timeless songs of Elvis Presley, Conway Twitty, and James Dean. Most of all, Shirley cherished spending time with her family and friends. Shirley's warmth, laughter, and love will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Those surviving who will cherish Shirley's memory include her husband, Carl E. Maupin Sr.; eight children, Carl Maupin Jr., Cliff (Julie) Maupin, Lisa (Bob) Torrez, Terri (Jim) Medecke, Jean (Denver) Smith, Kevin Maupin, Jeff Maupin, and Brenda (JC) Carpenter; several siblings; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by one brother, James Zorb; one sister, Angie Wurzelbacher; and one great-granddaughter, Hailey Hornberger; one nephew, Douglas Cabe.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to help defray funeral costs. Checks may be made payable to Brenda Carpenter and mailed to 3961 E. State Road 350, Osgood, IN 47037.
In keeping with Shirley's wishes, cremation was chosen and there will be no public services. To leave a fond memory, personal condolence, or to sign the online guestbook, please visit www.cookrosenberger.com. The staff of Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home are honored to care for Shirley and her family.
