Sylvia M. (Baker) Fasbinder, age 91, of Brookville and formerly of Oldenburg, died Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville.She was born February 14, 1922 in Franklin County to Louis and Mabel Meyers Baker. Sylvia married August Fasbinder, Sr. on October 17, 1942 and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1986. She was a member of the American Legion, the Eagles and the VFW. Sylvia was an avid card player and particularly liked to play Texas Holdem.Those surviving who will honor Sylvia's memory include; her children, August "Buddy"(Kathy) Fasbinder of Punta Gorda, FL, Louie Fasbinder and Penny (Harold) Harrison, both of Brookville, and Ron (Peg) Fasbinder of Batesville; brother, Bud Baker, and sisters, Dorothy Riley and Mildred Slagle, all of Metamora; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Dustin Fasbinder; one great-grandson, Wyatt Fasbinder, and 8 brothers and sisters. Visitation for friends and family will be from 3-7 p.m. with prayer service at 2:45, Monday, February 10, 2014 at Cook Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. A Mass of Christian burial, held at Holy Family Church, Oldenburg, with Rev. David Kobak officiating begins at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
