Thelma Sue Burns, age 76, of Sunman, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at her residence. Born on June 24, 1938 in Booneville, Kentucky she was the daughter of Elmer and Vanie Fields McIntosh. Thelma married Roscoe Burns on July 2, 1952 in Dalesburg, Kentucky. She was a former member of the Owsley County Arts and Crafts and attended Plum Grove Church in Oak Forest. Thelma loved to sew, crochet and garden. She had a passion for music, singing and playing the guitar; she also played piano at Raintree Apartments. Thelma always enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Those surviving who will cherish Thelma's memory include her husband, Roscoe Burns; daughters, Mayme Jean Bowling of Aurora, Karen Rumsey of Aurora, Ruth Ann Burns of Moores Hill, and Judy Ann Kincer of Sunman; sons, Stanley Burns, Hobert Lee Burns and Rocky Burns, all of Booneville, KY; 30 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lay of Sunman and Ruth Baker of Lawrenceburg, and brother, Andrew McIntosh of Lawrenceburg. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Mayme Baker, and brothers, Henry and Letcher McIntosh. Friends may visit with family from 12 noon until time of service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman. Services will be officiated by Pastor Paul Shoemaker of Plum Grove Church. Burial, at Hogan Hill Cemetery will follow. Family requests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
